You have to make the right choices for you. It means saying no, but finding what is right, and if it doesn’t then that is fine. Saying yes because you feel obliged to, is not making the right choice, because you are not doing it for you and if it is going to stress you out and fill you with dread, then means you have to change it and go down a different path. This doesn’t mean you won’t succeed it just there can be many roads to take to reach the things you want to do in your life.

If it is not for you, then it is not for you. Not everything is going to workout, and if someone says no to you, then that is okay too. Trust yourself in making the right decision, journal or talk to someone who can help you, and reflect on why on this occasion something has not worked out, or doesn’t feel right.

Dip your toe in. Test it out. Research and try it out. There is no harm in giving things a go, before you make your mind up. I remember when I was first looking for work, just leaving school and was interested in working in fitness, and was offered work experience for the day, to see how it felt and it wasn’t for me at that time and wanted to work in a football club, and was successful, and worked at a local football club as a steward and did work experience too helping the Groundsman and then found my office job whilst doing that in London.

I did some football training, with the Fulham ladies and it was only a few sessions, and made me decide that I wanted to coach, and gain experience. I was a little regretful as my confidence really affected me in going, but I am glad I still gave it a try. Twenty or so years later I did an FA qualification whilst working in a call center and got to manage my own team, and learned from it, so it still taught me a lot and now we are in 2024 going to “Grow” which is my word for this year. It was progression but grow fits better and get another book published, do more training and looking for work outside and continue to grow as a writer, and have a lot of great things planned and it is planning that can help decide on where you want to go next in your life that will boost your feelings and raise your happiness, to not allow times when it didn’t workout, affect you, in following your dreams.

I always wanted to write a book, and as a kid I liked writing, but stopped and now found my love again, in writing and now written 5 books, which are on amazon my most recent being a comedy called Mum&Me. I now am writing three books, a book called When Mothers Are Real and Behind the eyes of the other woman, and Mum&Me book 2, and it was by watching TV that I discovered self publishing, and I really enjoy it, and now looking to work outside, and finish my courses I have enrolled on, to help build my knowledge and understanding of the human mind, and children and young people by educating myself, to help grow my blogs and books, to help you my audience, to find happiness and live a life they love.

Listening to the right people, who can give you the right support you need can make all the difference, and there are many ways to train and learn, without it being too much and if it is affordable. Last year via a careers service received some free training and I want to learn more interventions, to help people and getting to know the mind.

Our minds are constant running machines and it can either work for you or against and want to learn about how to, being a mum for example communicate more affecting to my son who had ADHD and is on the Autism Spectrum. Why we can be positive one minute and down the next.

Reading books about topics you want to learn more about, can be really helpful. I am currently on Audible listening to Atomic Habits and want the physical book, I have read to help me with my writing, Save the Cats Write a Novel and again want the physical book because I felt it helped and continue to learn as a writer, and want to do more writing courses.

So, never stop believing in yourself and trust your gut instinct. If you say no that is fine. It is all about what makes us happy, and lowering the expectation we set for ourselves.

changing your mindset, dealing with challenges, happy living, managing the mind, new year post

Hello and happy new year! It is so good that I have a better laptop because my other one was causing so many problems that it really was making me feel frustrated, but stuck with it and my mum got me a new one and so thankful.

Photo by Yan Krukau on Pexels.com

I no longer set resolutions but life changes, and so I managing my mind to make sure I feel calm and if there are challenges by not dwelling on them. I would over analyse everything and that something must have happened for a reason, and would drive myself mad.

It can be draining, like I was watching a live Instagram post, and typed a comment on the live but when I read it back, it didn’t say what I wanted and so I was like, “I hope he doesn’t think I was being rude”, so now I read back what I have written before posting. How many of you have done that? Or texting to the wrong person, or found your phone calling an emergency number?

I hope it isn’t just me?

So, I learn to reflect and learn from it.

It is changing your thought process, and realise that you are only human. So getting out of my head, journal which always helps me and think okay next time I will make sure I check my text and put my phone on lock so if is accidentally sit on it, its not calling anyone.

If you’d like to share your life changes for 2024 then please leave a comment below.

Being productive, everyone can build a castle, focusing on one thing method, getting my life together, Planning

I watched a video by Terry Savelle Foy. and did try to find the video, but couldn’t, but she spoke about having everything in one place, and so using a Filofax I have, I am trying this out. I do still like a bullet style journal where I write notes for my videos, actual journaling, and using a basic notebook for writing notes for blogs and books, but when it comes to planning, trying to do this using my Filofax and it has made a difference, but it is quite bulky and for me I have found it tricky.

Check out this video where I feature my Filofax:

I like using my note apps on my phone and OneNote, and I find it helps keep it digitally so don’t have to carry my Filofax with me when out, but I do like jotting things down on paper, helps keep on top of things, and if my phone stops working or my laptop I still got it all written down.

I could use my Filofax for my books and videos, but would get super bulky, so for planning yes it works, but with someone has so many plans, and ideas, it is good to use a notebook too, along with digital software, and my phone.

Good to give it a try, and perhaps if I used a liver arch folder, perhaps that would be the answer, but means my Filofax would go to waste, but the one thing I am trying to do, is use what I got and don’t want to be bogged down with having so many notebooks now, and has helped me from not having to use a notebook, all of the time as they can add to clutter. I was buying them because of their pretty cover, and not because I actually needed them.

If you’d like to see me talk more about my Filofax and what I have created in a video on my main channel then please comment below. My main Youtube channel is: https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal

I showed how it was organised before, but have made some changes.

For me a planner has to be functional so I can change pages and create my own, and I bought the academic diary insert from Amazon, along with the dividers and used note pages to adapt it to what I want to include, in it. Note pages are from Amazon too.

You have to try these different methods to find out what works for you, and is dependent on your lifestyle and how you like to live. I like to be in control when it comes to planning and the method that suits me and is functional, and moving away from Google Calendar as that no longer works for me and so will be making changes to this, because the notifications, fills up my inbox and no longer take notice.

So, it is now Sunday evening and my son wants me to turn the light off as he is in bed, but I will be extending the date of my “Summer Project 2023” which I will let you know in the next blog.

Many thanks for reading,

dealing with trauma, finding help and support, Is it good to cry, life coaching blog, managing your feelings

A good cry can do wonders, yet many say it is a sign of weakness which I do not believe. If you have had trauma in your life it can take a long time to heal, and everyone bodies way of grieving is personal to them, and the words that get me is when someone says “Cheer up”, because it is more than having a bad day, it can be the hardest thing we’ve ever faced.

Photo by Alex Green on Pexels.com

Trauma can happen at any time and really knock us off our feet, and so often a person needs space and given comfort and compassion, and support to help recover.

Find someone who will truly listen to you, without making judgement but will just take in what you are telling them and help you make sense of it. Also writing, this has always helped me and when my Dad was badly hurt and was in hospital for a while, it was spending time playing out with my friends, and was looked after by my grandparents and neighbours in the housing estate I used to live. I will always be grateful for that, because I remember feeling some confusing and tried to lower the trauma I was facing at that time, by playing out, it helped take my mind away with what was happening.

Allow yourself to feel and if you need a bit of space then let people around you know and have that time to just feel and think, and when my son was born, which was early, at 31 weeks, I couldn’t see him for the first week as I had a viral infection, and it broke my heart, so took time to rest to recover, as it was a traumatic birth and so got as much rest as I could get, but even sitting some where like near a pond or the sea, if possible, it can help with being peaceful and calming, and can do wonders in dealing with your feelings.

If you feel you need medical help then talk to the doctor and don’t get fogged off, they are there to help you and can put you in touch with the Mental Health teams in your area, I was supported by Surrey Mental Health team and then the Merton Mental health team. They have many thing that they can help you with. like, putting you in contact with a Career Specialist, that they put me in contact with when I was ready to work outside again , and with my finances and free courses, in the fields I have been interested in, and there is a Recovery College which do free courses, and will continue to help you as you recover.

So, I hope these blogs are helping you and if you’d like to be updated when I post a blog on this site then press the Subscribe button on the top left of this site.

going out, good days out, health and wellbeing, managing your thoughts, positivity

Yesterday was a really lovely day. It was almost affected coming back because of going through the gate at our local station, but there will always be those who think they are more important than you, and yes I did get annoyed but now it is the next day, I am not going to allow that, to ruin the joy I had yesterday.

Picture I took of the Shepperton Loch which was so lovely and recommend.

We went to Shepperton, which I have never been before and filmed a week in a life, coming soon, for my main youtube channel, where I post weekly vlogs, (https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal) and there was issues with the trains too, but had a nice meal in a local pub, called the Alex back in Wimbledon and in Shepperton visited the Loch and Canal there, which really helped with my mind and clear the cobwebs and we did some walking and completed over 11,000 steps and helped me in my thoughts.

Visiting a different place where you have never been before can really help, along with the weather too.

I know there are people who don’t always get to go out, and find commuting difficult, so if you can help them, then why not offer to take them out. My Uncle had a stroke some years ago, and it really turned his life upside down, and so my mum and aunty along with other family members would take him out and take him to see his daughter and grandchildren.

Our minds can get overwhelmed with every day challenges, so getting outdoors, seeing friends and family, doing a puzzle, listening to music and a hot bath for example, can really help in have peace and doing a brain dump and journaling your thoughts and feel at peace with our mind, which can help the body.

What can also help is extra rest, especially if you are a parent and work full time for example. All the things we need to remember and a overacting mind, which has been what I have suffered with. As soon as put my head on my pillow at bedtime my thoughts start to think of blog ideas and remembering what I need to do the next day and the worst case scenario and so taking time away from my phone and laptop and read, can be great in settling the mind.

Having clean and tidy spaces, and having a good drink you enjoy and catching up on a box set or doing a indoor workout, can all help to clear the head and relax the mind.

Its all about self care and development that leads to more positivity, and staying calm and feeling content with your thoughts, to your feelings.

Let support each other and thank you for reading,

This is something I journaled when away near the south coast of Britain in a caravan and is important to me because I do go back to the passed in my thoughts and of the future, but in order to plan for the future you have to live each day and be present, rather in a dream world all of the time.

So when I wrote this, it was to enjoy myself with my husband and son, and seeing friends and were friends who hadn’t met our son, and being present helped I feel, have a good weekend.

Check my free printable to help you.

printable-for-a-journalDownload

Write it out and I have just did a new page of my journal, to what I want to do right now and helping me to slow down and focus on one task at a time.

It helps me to prioritize, so I have laundry to sort out so going to, once written this blog, go and check to see if my clothes are dry and put another load on. I have an telephone appointment and so need to prepare for that and having breaks in between and not feel overloaded with stuff to do.

It helps manage the mind to prevent burn out, and not being stuck in one place all day, as this can effect concentration and our feelings along with our thoughts

So lets keep building and keep living.

Today after being away at the weekend did a tidy of my bedroom, took Henry on a bus ride and on the train and then came back and sorted out my clothes that I had been meaning to do and tomorrow going to continue.

>It does mean having a good amount of sleep and relaxing properly so you can start each day fresh faced.

>It means taking time to have some self care so I had a shower and washed my face, hair and body.

>It means taking time out from being on my phone and being present and having a good daily routine

>This weekend away I journaled which I hadn’t done for a while and drafting for videos I want to film and blogs I want to write

>Making time to visit and meet with friends, having a night out doing something different that you don’t always get to do, and went to social club this weekend away where they were playing Bingo

>We walked along the seaside and had fish ‘n’ Chips and went to a pub we hadn’t never been to before and had a climbing frame for kids

>I caught up on my steps I like to do each week and went swimming with my son and my husband. something we rarely do together, it was such a shame that on that it was windy and rainy

>I did some laundry and unpacked from being away this weekend

>I did some reading and had a cooked breakfast which is very rare these days

>Now I am catching up on posting my blogs, whilst I watch a live video

>Started to go through my finances that I like to do each week

>Tomorrow I will be getting my son ready as he is going to a holiday club and getting myself ready for the day and got to have a blood test and catch up on editing my book I am writing and dusting my bedroom.

I like having things to do because it helps to manage my mind and not wasting my days and getting as much out of them as possible.

Effective Living, having down time, health and wellbeing, life coaching, self care and development

I write about this a lot on this blog but that it is so important to spend time giving yourself some self care that helps you develop and feel better about your life and we all need that time.

1>. Watching a movie after having a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine or a cup of tea.

Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Pexels.com

2>. Going for a coffee by a river or lake when the weather is good and a picnic with a bottle of Rose’ wine and meet up with a friend to join you

3>. Going for a long walk and write in your journal with a take away coffee or one you made at home and meeting up with a friend you have not seen for a while

4>. Do some exercise if you are not into walking but like to workout indoors. Check our Youtube as there are loads of different workouts on there and completely free or there is Davina McCall Own your goals and the body coach, Joe Wicks: https://www.thebodycoach.com/ and why not invite a friend to join you as sometimes working with a friend can make it more fun and more likely to stick to it.

5>. Read a book with a blanket over you, and put your mobile on silent and create a do not disturb sign.

It is about making the time for you and not what you always get to do, and we all need that down time.

So lets make the most of being free when we have the chance and now the schools break up for the School Summer Holidays, the more self care we can get, the better.

getting stuff done, getting stuff done whilst kids are away, how to be super productive 2023, managing your life, sorting your life out

Being the week of a UK school holiday (so kids are off from school: February 2023) and my son is at a holiday club called Youngstars I planned the week before of what I will be doing whilst he is at the holiday club. Today I did a reset and went through my make up and toiletries cleaning the shelf I use to store these items, I then cleaned the skirting boards, went through my son’s books and vacuumed and went for a walk as I needed some bread and sat in a local park whilst listening to music and then came back, and worked on my EBook called How I like to live, and updating it and make it into a bigger book and worked on my new Novel When mothers are real and now watching Gillian Perkins on Youtube where this idea of this blog post was created.

Sorry if that tires you out, this blog is not supposed to cause fatigue or make you feel like you haven’t done anything, but it is possible for everyone and who has kids off from school too, and when we get some hours to ourselves.

This is no way showing off, as you should have seen my room, it was a mess and could have easily gone back to bed, but no, there was no time like the present. So I chose today whilst I had the chance and more in the next two days. Time is precious and if I don’t do it today, when will it get done? This is a question I ask myself a lot when I think of others things I could of be doing. This question stirs me on to get my stuff together. I don’t like living in a mess, and I know if I was in bed I know that guilt of not doing anything would sink in, and then comes my negative thoughts, so being productive helps with my thoughts and anxiety.

Now being 2023 there is a lot of resources like different cleaning products and organizing digitally and using APPS, but lots of these new items come with cost and how functional are they? I could put it all on Notion, which I did use but already had OneNote on my computer and works well with me rather than paying to use Notion. Just say that is having an issues with it, I just trying not that works, but may still use Notion in the future, but not right now. OneNote is free I use it, like Notion to make lists rather than a notebook, but my question is, what if they stop working which my laptop does crash at time? It is technology and means losing all my lists and notes, so I still convert to paper, because I still find this method more resourceful and I don’t need to clog up my phone with a loads of APPs or have the latest appliances, they can cause clutter and be counter productive because they take up so much space, so in 2023 is keep it simple and still have a written plan and to do lists and for working on projects. I know we need to save on paper because of the environment, but I find it better to jot down rather than type all of the time, and what if I lose my phone and that means not having the APPs to help me, so for me, being productive in 2023, always have a back up plan written and stored so you can see it and notes for books is important because it helps me keep on track of where I am and brainstorming. I do like using my laptop but I like writing things down especially for when I write a journal and creating stories. I find it relaxing and great for on the go and save the space on my phone. Its not what an item can do but how resourceful it is, does it make life easy?

The items I do like are the cordless items, like I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse, and I do have access to a cordless vacuum which I did use, but don’t need tones of appliances, and so it is using what I have already got and this saves me money and time.

So, lets get productive and take that time to sort our lives.

Many thanks for reading
