I am about to embark on hopefully a new chapter, as tomorrow I have a job interview for a nursery in Guildford. Preparing for a new chapter can be a risk, but exciting at the same time.

I no longer want take calls from unhappy customers anymore, I’m done with that, and now want to help with my knowledge of looking after children throughout my life and from working in childcare for about a year, now want to enhance my skills and work on a more regular basis.

Today I was preparing myself for my interview, here’s what I think will help you too:

  • Make sure you do your homework about the company
  • Take some form of ID and if you work  in childcare remember your DBS and check if you received confirmation from the company about the interview, if they have provided details of what you need to bring with you
  • Check travel arrangements and direction
  • Plan ahead, check any travel disruptions or traffic delays if you drive
  • Make sure you take down the company address, telephone number and email address, in case you are delayed or need to rearrange, plus will help you find where it is you need to go
  • Begin to plan what you are going to wear, and make sure you are smart, and you stand out
  • Don’t over do it with perfumes and deodorants, especially if you are going to be working with children, as they may be allergic and super sensitive to these strong smells
  • At the same time, do be hygienic, make sure you wash your hands if you go to the toilet and do shower or take a bath either the night before or the morning
  • Make sure your clothes are clean and tidy, creased free
  • In this day and age it is important that you make sure your mobile phone is fully charged, but put your phone on silent or switched off if possible during the interview
  • Trim nails especially if working in childcare
  • Go over Interview questions and answers. I found some really good ones via the website: https://www.themuse.com/advice/how-to-answer-the-31-most-common-interview-questions
  • Pack your bag the day or night before, especially if you have an interview in the morning, and like me have to do the school run before hand. Helps with stress levels and the last thing you want to be doing is rushing around, because if you are nervous this is only going to make things worse
  • Go over the company information and the interview questions and answers to help prepare you as you get closet to the time. I am gonna do this whilst I commute, will help use up the time and stop me from getting apprehensive and I will also be taking a deep breath in through the nose out through the mouth, and close my mind
  • This will help lead you to switch off for a few moments to help keep yourself calm, listen to music, read or just practice mindfulness.
  • Lastly I wish you good luck

Last Friday I met up with my friends and all was going well, I was telling them about my husband work, and suddenly I felt self conscious, I no idea why, and I began to feel myself stutter and struggling with words.

I have talked about Social Anxiety before in a Christmas blog, check it out in link below:

Social anxiety at Christmas

I suddenly felt aware that I was talking and being looked at whilst I spoke, which is perfectly normal but suddenly felt self conscious and started feeling paranoid because I was worried in case my friends were laughing at me.

This has happened before many times and it has been picked up on by people too, and I suddenly feel mortified and embarrassed, wanting the ground to swallow me up.

Has anyone else had this happen?

What I did after then was kept quiet and listened to my friends speak, and then once I pulled myself together than began to talk some more.

It just feels like someone grabbing my words and muddled them all up in my brain and I have no control over it.

Having social anxiety does really knock my confidence, but I tried to bounce back from those feelings as much as I can, but find they can haunt me now then.

There was a time where I didn’t have those feelings, and came out of shell more, and think was due to atmosphere. I try to think of those times when I felt fully confident and try to be the same person, but I struggle now.

I think I have struggled more as I have gotten older.

Do you suffer from social anxiety?

How do you try to control it?

Many thanks for reading,

Building self confidence has been something I have had to work on through out my life, and there are times when I feel a massive wave of confidence and some days where I have wanted to just hide away somewhere.

Here is a really great video by Tony Robbins, who talks about Creating Unstoppable Self confidence. See Below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUO4SpT–rI

He talks about self sabotage. I am guilty of doing this myself, constantly criticizing things I do, like when I film for my Youtube channel and that nagging thought of is this good enough?

Why would anyone watch this?

I now listen to it and learned to push it away, and think of the good things I am getting out of filming for example, like I want to share how I clean my home, and things I have bought and how I handle lack of self confidence with others, because I enjoy it and want to build my blogs and Youtube audience, as I want to inform others who share the same interests.

it can be constant battle in your mind when it comes to building self confidence because that inner critic constantly wants to have its say, but learning to answer and handle that critic is the way to building better self confidence.

I would love to hear from you, if you to have had to work on your confidence and what you have done to build your confidence.

A tribute to someone special, Being inspired by others, everybodycanbuildacastle, inspiration, Peeweetoms, Terminal cancer, Youtuber

Not sure how to begin this blog, because I don’t want it to appear that I am using someone’s death to make profit on my blog. That isn’t what I am about, but I feel I need to write this blog, because of how short of a time a certain special person had inspired me.

His name is Peeweetoms. A Youtuber who made inspiring videos about his life coping with terminal cancer.

I wasn’t even sure of which of my blog sites to write this on, but I feel I need to pay this tribute. If you want to watch Peeweetoms videos then click here to watch his channel.

He made you aware of what cancer can do, and to encourage others to get checked if they too are worried about having cancer, and not to be scared.

Sadly he lost his battle but his memory and his videos will live on, and will carry on creating awareness to others too.

Many thanks Dan you are a true saviour.

I was so sad to hear that Claire Wineland who is a public speaker and also made various Youtube videos, had died.

She was and still will be an inspiration for so many. The way she spoke and what she said about people with illnesses truly made sense. Just because some is sick doesn’t mean you should pity them, as people are more than their sickness, they are still human after all.

Here is video proving what a true inspiration she was. She may have gone but never forgotten.
