Body and Mind: The Joy Of Doing Nothing

chilling out, doing nothing, faith, family, health and wellbeing, life, music, radio, relaxing, resting

Sometimes we just need a break. From devices, cleaning, socialising and do nothing, which Mel Robbins has talked about and it so true: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNPgn_qfoNk to recharge.

Yesterday we went out for my sons birthday and did a bit of planning using my notebook and Notion and taking a break to have a bath, watching and listening to the football scores and listening to Epsom Hospital Radio.

I have forgotten how good it is to do nothing. On Saturdays I love spending time sitting on the sofa listening to Marcus Tattersall who does the Saturday afternoon show on Epsom Hospital radio and can be heard in the UK and so please check it out. I also do a show show on Sundays, 4pm to 6pm. I’m not doing my show today, Sunday, as I am celebrating my sons birthday but back next Sunday and is free to listen.

It is good to sit and be present, taking in what is around you and so just chilling with a brew and with family is so fulfilling and love having days where I don’t need to go anywhere and stop in, so I get a good boost to go out on somedays but not putting too much pressure on myself and helps aluminate stress.

After my son came back from celebrating his birthday, going to the Ninja Warrior Adventure Park and it was good to take my makeup off, get into my Pjs and one of my nieces loves staying in her Pjs at the weekend and there was a time I did this too on some weekends and not having to lift a finger. I like to be ready to get back to sort the home out, going to appointments and just the daily grind after the joy of doing nothing.

I like Sunday mornings watching repeats of Cheers, Match of the day and normally my son will go to a rugby club, but he didn’t want to go, but is going to his football club later and I get to see it as I normally be doing my radio show.

So it is good to just relax, take some well earned time to just be doing sweet FA and enjoy.

Autumn Reset Week 3: Having a bit of peace and quiet, listening to your body and mind

Can you have peace when you are trying to get to your kids to school or catching the train to go to work and have to come home and do some housework? It can be a juggling act and so when on the train just spend time looking out of the window and visioning your day and at lunchtime catch up on listening to a playlist or audiobook on your phone away from colleagues who may want chat about work, but is the last thing you want to do.

Photo by Nida Kurt on Pexels.com

When I am working on building content I will have the TV off so I can be fully focused and walking noticing what is around me and allow my feet to walk and really helps to clear my mind and refocus.

Listen to your body and mind and what it needs. Yesterday I was not good, I had an allergic reaction to something and hadn’t slept, so took some medicine and didn’t film a vlog (vlog Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal) took a break from my laptop and just did nothing and I feel so good for that and today Saturday 28th September, I feel myself getting back to feeling normal, and it so happened to be my birthday.

Sometimes you just need to rest and your body will tell you. If your sick it means you have to slow down as your health is priority. Noone wants to be sick, everyone wants that boost of energy and positivity, so if your body is aching, your nose is running, like me had a rash and didn’t sleep well feeling “This is too much” pull yourself back and rest.

Everybody wants peace and quiet at times and this is why the reset is good, because if one of your areas you want to work on it is too have more peace and quiet, then make that happen. Schedule it in and let your family know and put a “Do not disturb” on the door and have a afternoon nap, do a bit of reading, journaling, meditation or watch a TV series, without your children interrupting, let them know its parents rest time. You can involve your family to all have a bit of peace and quiet, by doing a puzzle, watch a film or a reading hour for example and wind down properly each day.

I am a lot better today as I slept and glad for that time and reminded myself to “Switch Off ” and “Concentrate on my health” and thankful that I did that and so if your feeling rough, as also I am on my period, sorry if TMI, but can affect me too, in terms of sleep and energy, so listen to what your body tells you and look after yourself.

I hope these blogs help you and lets all work together to grow in learning about your body and mind so you become healthier and calmer.

autumn 2024, autumn yearly reset, getting things done, health and wellbeing, tidy places

So today I had a tidy up. I tidied my clothes and going through my clothes for the laundry that is in the guest room in Epsom and is one area of my home in Epsom, that I want to do a makeover on have begun to decide where I am going to start first.

This morning I completed another chapter of my book series that I want to work on to complete the first draft during this yearly reset that I do each year and the other area that I want to add is in my sons bedroom. At the moment he has a TV unit that has pictures on it, but also stores some of his clothes so my son can find what he wants to wear and an outfit when not in school, without difficulty. Room and spaces to me have to be functional. Like example having my sons clothes set up each day do when he comes from school can go to his room and change, without having search around and is there waiting for him.

His uniform is kept in his built in closet in his bedroom and also want to organize his books.

You will find when doing a reset and changing spaces, that there are other areas that crop up and needs work on and want my sons room to be suitable for my son, to have some easy access for him to find his clothes and pick them up and with books too.

His toys are downstairs in a cupboard and has easy access, and sorting out the shed found some toys that he has rediscovered and the shed will eventually be where I will be crafting at the moment not practical as it will be cold in there and so may need to put these plans on hold but I can still sort it all out and so yes so many obstacles but means I can focus on finding a secondary school for my son. One area I am sorting and work on my book and complete my counselling course.

So there are jobs that I have been putting off and made excuses but I am done with that habit and I want a room which is clutter free and is nest not just a room, so no matter I can still declutter and so second week going to make some changes that I know can be done and have less to sort out, once the shed is ready to be used as a craft room.

everyone can build a castle, health and wellbeing, life coaching blog, Personal Development, self help blog

I know a lot of coaches and health experts say to get out of your comfort zone, and that is me included and have changed that mindset. I have begun to realise that this can often lead to stress and anxiety, and so from my own self I like to take it step by step, rather than jumping in with both feet and hating every minute of it.

Photo by Anna Tarazevich on Pexels.com

There are many things I have wanted to do something that I never thought I could do and that is speak publicly to people and from watching others film their life, to help others I have three Youtube channels and now working on radio.

At school I was mocked when we had to play game, where we had to, for one minute talk about an object or subject and I was stuttering and wanted the earth to swallow me up and it made me for a while fearful of talking in front of the class and yet, as a young child performed in shows when I did tap and ballet had no fear and loved it.

When you grow from being a child into an adult your awareness increases of ourselves and begin to have feelings we have never had before and I was super shy at one point. I attended a drama school and was fearful, and I just froze and just sat there and didn’t know what to do and the teacher watching,f was really looking at me as if I poohed in the class and just wanted to run and not come back.

Yet I loved dancing and when I got to be in a school play again loved it and performed in assembly’s but when it came to speaking out I was a nervous wreck.

Doing Drama helped me and how I gained my confidence to talk in front of people and planning on what I was going to say and I was shy going to my first session of ballroom dancing and soon overcome my shyness and found the skill I was good at and it bought me out of shell and glad I took the chance and it was through a friend, and going with a friend can make it less daunting if you want to do something that you have always wanted to do, and can make it fun and take the fear away.

So never allow your fear to avoid chances because it can have a real positive effect to lead to other chances.

It is so hard not to be self critical, about your life and put ourselves down, but doing the laundry and clearing it each week is a win, getting kids to school okay is a win and working out on the treadmill is a win. It is anything where you feel you have achieved what you have set out to achieve and brings out the endorphins within your mind and body. It gives you confidence and makes you feel good about you as a person and recognise the things we do for others and for yourself, that has made a difference and recognise your own value.

Photo by Anna Shvets on Pexels.com

Celebrating who you are by making yourself makes you feel that you can live each day at your own means whilst respecting others. Value yourself and recognise when you have had a good successful day because you got the TV fixed, you saved money on groceries and was done because your kids are your life and what a person you are by looking after others, and got yourself out of debt, something that has been a burden but has been worth it because of how it makes you feel.

Each day I acknowledge myself by recognising the highlights in my life and focus more of the now.

For a long time lived in a dream world, because felt that there was no purpose in my life, my friends were busy with their jobs and growing their life and felt left behind.

Now though I give myself credit and celebrating my wins each day has helped with that.

Every time I pay off my credit card is a win and getting bits I need for the week is a win, it is making me see that I am growing into the person I wish to be. I no longer want to rely on others and take responsibility of my feelings, so I can be there for my son, spend time with family and build my knowledge to make a difference to the people around me through my content. deal with everyday life, everyone can build a castle, happiness and wellbeing, health and wellbeing, life coaching blog

Life wouldn’t be life if we didn’t have a bad day and not saying that I want things to go wrong but like yesterday going up stairs my sons tipping point machine fell on the floor, so all the tokens from it fell all over the floor. Yet I didn’t dwell on it as with the help of my son we put he tipping point toy together and picked up the tokens then as planned I went to bed, and no one got hurt so didn’t give myself a hard time over it, like have done so in the passed.

It is so good to take time out from the outdoor world, but then change of scenery is also good so not being cooped up can help you feel good about each day and listen to your mind and body to enjoy the days whilst alive as life can go so quickly.

I like to do different things each day and have plenty to do.

There will always be unplanned events like if you have children, have picked up a bug, the trains being delayed and caught up in Traffic, making you late. This can cause stress, so to avoid this plan ahead and have a back up plan, something I learned from being a manager of a football team, because of the weather which we have no control over but can help us be prepared like having an umbrella and going through different routes to find which will be best, to avoid the bad weather.

If you haven’t slept well and everything is irritating you.

Plan a ritual like reading book, practice mindfulness and going for a walk always helps me and take a nap in the day if you can, or just plan for bedtime to have a good nights sleep and make sure your body is properly relaxed. As soon as I put my head on my pillow ideas of blogs and videos start and that happened last night so brain dumped and have something you can jot down to clear your thoughts and have a proper restful mind and not being on my laptop too late in the evening has made a difference too.

Do a evening checklist.

Before I got to bed I check the back door is locked and the front door, everything is turned off and switch my phone on silent and volume down so the only thing that will sound is my alarm.

I also do a check list when leaving the home. I make sure that nothing is on that shouldn’t be and check my emails daily in case my sons school have sent something to me, for my son and appointments, and that I empty my inboxes daily. Then check my phone as I get alerts on there too from my sons school and health check ups and I make sure I remember appointments made, as last week I nearly forgot about a school we (my mum and I) checking out as we got to start looking for a secondary school for my son and that I had a telephone appointment, so doing a daily check in the evenings helps to clear my mind, so my mind isn’t stirring and can properly switch off and helps reduce bad days and take more time for myself so I wake up refreshed and not more tired in the mornings, and tired enough in the evening to get a good sleep and reduce my anxiety and anxiousness that I can feel each day, when I do have a good nights sleep.

Things will go wrong in life and it is part of living. It’s all about how to handle it, should we dwell on it or take into our stride for it to go right and that is part of the living process.

So try not to beat yourself up when things don’t go to plan and if you need time to readjust then take that time.

Please remember to subscribe and you will always be updated every time I post and don’t miss out, and the same for my Youtube channel where you can find my videos for my life Coaching Programme and Pinterest.
