The truths about this time of year that can lift or lower mood and don’t feel the festive cheer!

carriesrealworld.com, Christmas isn't about giving gifts, concentrate on another year, everyonecanbuildacastle, greatest gift, have to work on Christmas day, opening gifts, some people will be alone and feeling blue, The Truths about this time of year that can lift or lower our mood and don't feel the festive cheer, waste my money, waste my time

HOW SHOULD I BEGIN THIS BLOG? I ASKED MYSELF ON BLOGMAS DAY 17!

Image result for free images giving love to others

We know we have 8 more days left before many of us are either are happy to see what their kids got for Christmas and to find what we got to, or we feel unhappy because we have to work or some people will be alone and feeling blue. Many of us will have to work on Christmas day because not everything closes but are open because places like hospitals and hotels will still be busy and have people wanting to stay.

Yes I will still be eating the food and watch Henry as face it when we become parents the focus is no longer on us, when he opens his gifts which I know what he has got because reality check, it wasn’t Santa who is broke it is me.

That’s life we make sacrifices for our children and the people we love, however I won’t be all jolly all day although I will be happy that it is here and once again its well and truly almost over and then for many of us can concentrate on another year.

What we have to remember is that Christmas isn’t about giving gifts, yes it is nice, but my greatest gift is my son and my husband, spending time with them and relaxing and chilling on Christmas day. I want to focus on recuperating and get ready to finish my goals for the following year.

Doing blogmas has opened my eyes that I do waste my money and often waste my time. Yeah I want to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ but I also want to sit back and prepare for the rest of my life.

So if you know someone who may be alone, want some advice as this time of year can be difficult for some, then lend them a hand as you can make a difference, to bring them a smile to give them some Christmas festive cheer.

I will post more as we get further to Christmas day, but I am now got to be up and out of the way.

First of all I have to recommend you watch some of the Mel Robbins videos about handling certain things that may happen leading up to Christmas. She did a recent one about never feeling guilty again and another about what not to talk about during Christmas and toxic family relatives. See these videos below.

Anxiety can creep up on you anywhere and can be caused by many things and can be triggered around this time of year, because of Christmas parties and seeing friends you don’t often see and family.

I love my family but there has been some feuds, example one of my Uncles who sadly isn’t with us anymore didn’t like the fact that we my mum (his sister) and my auntie (his other sister) were still in contact and friends with his ex-wife and when my mum and dad got divorced my dad couldn’t be in the same room as my mum and her new husband.

This can cause a strain because you do often have to dived yourself and often as I have been there, feel we have to lie about seeing the other person or not mention them in case it triggers that other person to start being very negative towards you and that other person.

At Christmas parties at work, there may be someone who is bullying you at work or you just don’t get along with and you are weary or fearful of them starting on you at the Christmas party.

My first tip is: Think about the people who you do look forward to seeing at Christmas or work with and focus on them, not on the person being negative. If there is a member of your family that doesn’t get along with someone else in your family then arrange to still see them but at different times. Example we often would spend Christmas day at my mums side of the family and boxing day with my dads side of the family. If this isn’t possible them why not spend time with them during the new year instead of Christmas.

Handling anxiety during Christmas is learning what causes it in the first place and so looking back and writing it down can help you find out what it truly is. This does mean digging deep but will help you manage these thoughts and come up with a solution. If it is about the food or if someone won’t like your gift then have a chat if you can with that person to find out what they would really like. Asking is often the best option and when it comes to food if someone offers to do it instead or help you, take them up on it and plan ahead, and go through the items that are worrying you first so you can help prevent the worries from happening.

To have a Successful Christmas isn’t about everything being perfect, sometimes the best memories are often when someone has gotten the wrong gift or spills salt into their dinner because the lid fell off the salt shaker. This would often happen at my Nan and Grandads at Christmas, yet it still makes me laugh and smile.

I gave my husband one year because I forgotten what it was I had bought and it was a year that we said we wouldn’t buy each other gifts but he did and so I then panicked and realised I had a gift. I thought it was a shaving kit, but turned out to be a car cleaning kit. Back then he didn’t have a car or licence but was very funny and he did see the funny side of it, and I did buy him another gift so technically he got two presents and it was fine.

If you are worried about drinking too much then don’t get into rounds and stick to buying your own drinks. This isn’t being tight or unsociable but saving yourself and them money, and you don’t have to worry about being pressured to have a alcoholic drink if you do not want one.

Worried about debt, save from January to December and even a little bit put aside can go a long way. Yes set a budget and check out Jordan Paige Youtube videos as she gives some great tips on how to save for the holidays.

So have a super Christmas, I will be posting more as we get nearer to the festive season, but until then have a super week and weekend.

Many thanks for reading.

Never Try to Be Perfect/ Create good habits instead

30 Powerful habits, carriesrealworld.com, Create good habits instead, Everyone's perception of the word perfect is different, everyonecanbuildacastle, Get to love your imperfections, Never Try to Be Perfect

I read an article a long time ago, whilst waiting to be seen by my dentist which has stayed in my mind. It was about how this woman who wrote the article was striving to be perfect, have the perfect body, eat the perfect diet, etc yet she felt completely miserable, and didn’t get any real benefit from it what so ever.

Image result for Never try to be perfect free images

Yes she was losing weight but instead of feeling like “Yeah I feel great” she felt tired, hungry and had little motivation.

The one of things that stood out of me in this article was when she wrote that, everyone’s perception of the word “perfect” is different, and that’s the same for me as far as I am concerned when it comes to the word success.

I was so insecure at an early age that the way I looked and felt really bought me down, and I would avoid mirrors, hate trying on clothes in a fitting room, because lets face it, they aren’t the most flattering of mirrors in some changing rooms, and at school there was a girl called Sherie who seemed to be beautiful, hair, face, height and nice and slim. She was very popular and everyone wanted to be friends with her.

I would dream constantly about being this girl and what it would be like for a day, and what it would be like to be that pretty and that popular. However looking back she wasn’t super confident really, when she first began at school as she started a little after I began school, yet we were in the same class, she cried for a whole day because she missed her mum,

She was the sort of person that constantly had to have people around her, yet looking back I liked the fact I got a bit of space. I did eventually make friends and she became my friend, and I would go to Sherie’s flat for tea after school, but I didn’t need constant attention by loads of people.

At the time I thought she was the most perfect girl in the world, but in fact she wasn’t. I remember coming home from secondary school seeing her coming home on the bus and causing a bit of trouble with the bus driver with some other kids.

She by any means was perfect. NO ONE IN THIS WORLD IS PERFECT!

Life isn’t about being perfect but thriving in life, creating good habits that will fulfill your wellbeing and aiming to be successful in what ever field or path you choose.

Check out these 30 Powerful Habits which will make your life more productive and will help you build a better life for yourself, which in turns helps build your wellbeing and creating more successes in your life.

What you need to understand is the word perfect is like the word diet, there is so many different types that make you believe that if you follow this diet, you can look like this or look like that celebrity, but it isn’t real. No one in the world is the same, but if there is someone who you admire than learn from them to help implement changes to what they do to feel better about themselves that you could use, but never copy because what works for one person doesn’t mean it will work for someone else.

Be your own person and get to love your imperfections. Seeing peoples imperfections is to me more endearing because they are just being who they are, and not bothered about the word perfect.

So aim high, created positive changes but never try to be perfect because as far as I am concerned there is no such thing.

As people we drift apart, everyonecanbuildacastle, Learning from other people, People I no longer see, Why people come and go

Image result for people

There have been many people I know longer see, not because we have fallen out, but as people we can often drift apart, as we get older and we continue to meet different people in our lives.

Without people we no longer see we wouldn’t have met the new people in our lives, as humans we are forever growing, and we learn from others.

Whether it be from other people’s mistakes or how they have become so successful in their life.

I wrote a piece a while ago about creating a foundation in our life, and how it so important, because we need those who help pick us up when we’re down.

However what about the people we no longer see? Well there is the wonders now of Social Media and I have rediscovered those friendships with some of those people through Instagram and Facebook, and it is good to see how much their life has changed developed too.

People evolve through time, and it sad to find out from others that those people we no longer see have passed away, but sadly that is life. People come and go, but the memories is what lasts forever.

I can look back and think about those people I know longer see with a smile, as I know I wouldn’t have gotten this far in my life without them.

#what is success life, achieving the things you want, Building success in your life, Creating success in your life, everyonecanbuildacastle, Thriving for success in your life, What are the keys to success?

Image result for building success in your life

If there was a pill we could take that would make us successful we would take it, but success means something different for each person so it would be difficult to prescribe.

Success to me, means achieving your goals and aiming for higher things each day. I recently published a new book on Amazon called The Peabody Years and for me that has been a success because I now have my fifth book now published.

If you aim for bigger and better things in life then I believe you will get it, but it does take commitment, dedication and determination.

I this weekend went to a birthday party and for me it is out of my comfort zone because I do struggle with social anxiety, but I had a brilliant time, for me that was a success, no arguments a small hiccup, but everyone enjoyed themselves, it was a successful night.

So building success in life is about the small things aswell as the bigger things in your life, that’s what makes life so special. We build success in our life in our own right.

Next time you see someone talk about success remember its their own interpretation and not the same for everyone and look at your life I bet you have had success, just not always able to see it like that, but it is there and we have all at some point had success.

We all can be successful, you don’t need a silver spoon you just need to have the right attitude and outlook and it will happen.

So what does success mean to you?

I would love to hear from you.

Feeling like you don’t belong

Image result for feeling like you don't belong

As a child I often felt like I was odd, unlike my friends and other children I’d come to meet, and it was hard as a child feeling this way. I dreamed about being someone else, not me.

I remember being envious of a certain girl at school called Sherie and she was really pretty and popular, all the girls wanted to hang around her including the boys aswell, and I dreamed of being her, just for one day so I could feel what it was like to feel belonged.

She didn’t have it easy, but when she cried it was a nice cry and gentle, and when she smiled she used to light the room, and so wished that could be me.

Even though she cried a lot because she missed her mum, she instantly found friendship and people wanting to be around her.

Image result for Group of friends in a playground playing cartoon image

It was only when I started playing football at school I started towards the end of Primary school, I felt like I was accepted, but I still felt like I didn’t belong there and never kept in touch with those friends, once I started secondary school.

I kind of felt I needed to leave that part of life behind me, and start a fresh.

Those feelings of not belonging can be isolating and lonely. When I stopped playing out a lot, I more or less had to start building the relationships I had built up, all over again.

I hid away because I was sick of being picked on, and I was being bullied by the girl who lived the flat right opposite me. She even used my friends to get at me too, and it was hard, I wanted to stay in my shell and not come out again.

Feeling like you don’t belong has its advantages, and I like having my personal space, but I also like to feel part of something. When I took up dancing it took a while, but became part of a group there and for the first time felt some confidence, and I remember I couldn’t wait till Saturday for my dancing school to start again.

Then at Secondary school, after the first year, did have my own group of friends I would hang out with everyday and finally I was part of a group at school. I still found it a struggle at school, but having close friends to support me, did help me and they helped me come out of my shell.

Don’t get me wrong we had fall outs, but didn’t last for long, and I am still friends with those girls now.

Image result for friends images

Even now since my son started school, I see all the mums already in there groups talking whilst I wait there to go in. The worse for me to do, is to but into their conversation so I stand back.

The one reason why I blog because I like being part of a community, and embracing the new online world, and I feel like I belong.

When I started going to rugby I felt like I could finally let my hair down, and I had discovered a new sense of freedom that I never had before, and whole new world had opened up for me. That was thanks to one of my friends I had made at secondary school, whom I am still friends with today.

The Rugby years were great and even though at times I felt like the odd one out still because of my own insecurities I did feel like I was part of something truly special. It’s like the theme tune from the American Sitcom Cheers,”Where everybody knows your name”, and that is very important to me.

It is good to feel like you belong as you finally feel like you have found your purpose in life and meeting different kind of people, you learn from others and I try think back to those times to remind myself that I have been part of something and other peoples journey.

It is about coming out of your comfort zone and trying something new. When I started doing fundraising events, found another type of community, one where even though these people didn’t know me from Adam, gave me support as they passed me by anyway, and it really gives you a real boost, and a sense of “I can do this and here I am”.

Belonging is about being accepted for who you are and for what you know you can become.
