I am going bit over with my Life Coaching blogs, before I begin my Autumn Reset, as there are a few more blogs I want to share. Just because we are coming into the 9th month of the year, doesn’t mean you can’t restart your life. Everyone’s situation is different, and so, so what if if it is not January? Its when you know it is time to reevaluate your life and make changes.

Photo by Jill Wellington on Pexels.com

What are your current habits?

How do you feel when you start a new day?

I get anxious, I find it hard to wake up in the mornings, so I will take it slow. I remember when working in a Call Centre, that was fast paced, and a lady there used to call me, “Mrs Rush” and was noted when I worked in a holiday camp and worked in the Residential Catering Department, that I would work fast and I get lost in the moment to get things done, and I think living in the city that is all you know, is to be fast.

Now I take my time and attention to detail is the key, and not always about getting so much done at once. This is from experience, as working fast pace, it would cause me to be stressed and get burn out, to not wanting to be bothered to do anything.

It doesn’t have to all be done in one day. and allow yourself to breath. Make one change a day. I do make the beds, but with the summer holidays I have made them as soon as I have had that free moment, and there are no bed making Police so fit it in, but when it suits you, and being flexible can really help in the way you live your life, and making sure you have that first drink in the morning, that you enjoy, of course not alcohol or fizzy drinks. Just start with the mornings, and mix it up, its good to change a routine if you feel bored with life, and need to start over, because you feel that life is too much and can’t cope with it.

I found that reading and listening to Podcasts helps. There are some good books out there, like Mel Robbins the 5 second rule which I am sure you know about. and she does a brilliant podcast, along with Fearn Cotton, Happy place and a new one I have gotten into is Real Talk Kim.

I have written books too, check out Amazon, under the names, Carrie Challoner, Carrie Lee Holmes and Carrie Holmes. They are available on Kindle and many of them are available in paperback too.

It all about changing the way you think about yourself, areas that need to be changed and the people you associate with. I remember working in a Call Centre and there were many agents who were negative all day thinking the worst and complaining a lot. Yet there were times when we would have a laugh, but you’d find those that ruined that, were the ones who had nothing good to say about anything and everything.

Yes it was a tough job, but seeing that we’d would deal with complaints a lot, the worst thing was colleagues arguing and those thinking they were a lot more superior to everyone else. That they had more rights than you, and yet we were doing the same job and also because of, not getting help by senior staff.

Or you find that people talk to you about their problems but won’t listen to yours, and for me a good friendship is when you get each other and it is 50/50. I am not saying to have a fall out or start accusing, but have a chat and mend relationships that is stopping you to start again.

This means making sense of situations and changing the patterns in your life and having self care, and look after your own wellbeing first before you focus on anything else. Sometimes you have to be selfish in the contents of changing the way you dress, your morning routine that you have a good reason to get up and get going.

Stop beating yourself up and live. Take each day as it comes aswell as plan and setting goals for the future and remove devices on some days or during part of the day, as these can influence our thoughts too.

Noones life is perfect everyone experiences bumps in the road, and so get up and get going, and be in charge of your life and honour yourself, and be kind to yourself.

Self Sabotage won’t get you anywhere, but fall into more of a depression, and so make every day be as good as the last by respecting yourself and making step by step changes.

Life Coaching Programme “Summer Project 2023” Planning your life: Being Spontaneous

creating new experiences, having fun, life coaching, planning last minute, planning your life

I know this is counterproductive when I am a planner, I like to plan each day, but sometimes a good plan is when a plan was done last minute with no agenda., I decided to book to go to the Zoo in Battersea park yesterday, and was a good day. My son is very moany at the moment and so he was saying he didn’t want to go to the Zoo, because he wanted to see the London Eye again.

Yet once we were in the Zoo he was happy, and wanted to keep seeing the animals and is a lovely place to visit, and tomorrow we are going to North Greenwich, again, like we did on Monday, and got the UberBoat, and was so enjoyable.

I like when I am out to explore and travel into London even more, and one of the best nights out have often been ones when we have gone out and then wanted to stay out, and had a rememberable time. I remember my friend had drinks in the week for her birthday and we were having such a good time that we went onto a club. I did do the wrong thing, and missed work the next day, but was such a good evening, that neither one of my friends and I wanted to evening to end.

When I would go and watch a rugby league team, which would be mainly at the weekends, we would spend the rest of the evening to go up London and stay out. Yes this cost money, but was money well spent, and felt like I properly let my hair down and I have so many fun memories. Of course my life has changed, I am a mum now, but I do still like to be spontaneous sometimes and have fun, rather than doing the same thing all the time, and are some of the best times. Life is about enjoyment and spending time with those you love, who see life the same way you do, and like to make last minute plans and getting the most out of life.

I couldn’t do this all the time, because I live on a tight budget like many, and the whole the point is to do something different that you unable to do all of the time.

So, plan yes but if your life is getting boring then it is the same thing everyday, then it means you need to do new experiences and make last minute plans, like visiting a friend you have not seen for a long time or going to a place you have never been before, or for a long time, it can make you feel better about life and not see the same place all of the time.

Being productive, everyone can build a castle, focusing on one thing method, getting my life together, Planning

I watched a video by Terry Savelle Foy. and did try to find the video, but couldn’t, but she spoke about having everything in one place, and so using a Filofax I have, I am trying this out. I do still like a bullet style journal where I write notes for my videos, actual journaling, and using a basic notebook for writing notes for blogs and books, but when it comes to planning, trying to do this using my Filofax and it has made a difference, but it is quite bulky and for me I have found it tricky.

Check out this video where I feature my Filofax:

I like using my note apps on my phone and OneNote, and I find it helps keep it digitally so don’t have to carry my Filofax with me when out, but I do like jotting things down on paper, helps keep on top of things, and if my phone stops working or my laptop I still got it all written down.

I could use my Filofax for my books and videos, but would get super bulky, so for planning yes it works, but with someone has so many plans, and ideas, it is good to use a notebook too, along with digital software, and my phone.

Good to give it a try, and perhaps if I used a liver arch folder, perhaps that would be the answer, but means my Filofax would go to waste, but the one thing I am trying to do, is use what I got and don’t want to be bogged down with having so many notebooks now, and has helped me from not having to use a notebook, all of the time as they can add to clutter. I was buying them because of their pretty cover, and not because I actually needed them.

If you’d like to see me talk more about my Filofax and what I have created in a video on my main channel then please comment below. My main Youtube channel is: https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal

I showed how it was organised before, but have made some changes.

For me a planner has to be functional so I can change pages and create my own, and I bought the academic diary insert from Amazon, along with the dividers and used note pages to adapt it to what I want to include, in it. Note pages are from Amazon too.

You have to try these different methods to find out what works for you, and is dependent on your lifestyle and how you like to live. I like to be in control when it comes to planning and the method that suits me and is functional, and moving away from Google Calendar as that no longer works for me and so will be making changes to this, because the notifications, fills up my inbox and no longer take notice.

So, it is now Sunday evening and my son wants me to turn the light off as he is in bed, but I will be extending the date of my “Summer Project 2023” which I will let you know in the next blog.

Photo by Mikael Blomkvist on Pexels.com

My mental state was bad and it has taken me a lot to get my life back on track, but planning is always the one thing that gets me through it. I like planning my days and focusing on having a good day, whatever has tried not knock me off the path I have been going through, to be fully recovered. I did a video talking about a couple of days ago, when I went to pick up my prescription and bought a cold coffee, only to drop it as I was running for the bus back, check out my video here: https://youtu.be/L_bU-FKqtOQ and so not everything goes to plan, but I still got my prescription and I still made it back indoors to record the video above, talking about Using what you’ve got .

When unplanned events happen, it can take a while to get over and I believe in, allowing yourself to grieve and take time in coming to terms that sometimes you have to start again, to continue to grow as a human being, and that is exactly what I have had to do.

I started to get back on my feet by spending time away from my friends and family, and was helped with getting my life together, by having an income again and being reunited with, family and my son, and able to see him off to school and back. Getting in contact with friends via social media, and now looking to be connected to others again, as I do miss going out with friends and family again.

Never plan too big at first, and focus on one or two things, at a time. I began to Understand the condition I had and learned about the triggers, should I feel like I am having relapse, and learning about different mental health conditions. I did this by doing some free courses, and they have helped me, with these blogs, because I love to learn and educate myself. It is a great way to rebuild your life. I did some painting which I haven’t done in years and started walking again. Walking small distances, and exploring new places, getting back into writing books, and exercise is good for recovery as it does give you, good energy and it helps me to listen to my body that can help with my mind, by retuning positive feelings.

Healing relationships by forgiving and forgetting, and addressing the causes. Make a plan to see your friends again and spend time with family, and have them help you in recovery, You don’t have to go through recovery on your own.

Having a good sort out on things that you want to let go off and make plan to do this. Again get help. My mum helped me when I came out of hospital, and recently done a declutter, and doing this regularly can help the feelings of being overcrowded with stuff.

I am in a good place now and feel like my life is taking shape. There are still so much I wish to do, but taking it one step at a time.

Remember I do have books available on happiness and wellnesses, along with fictional books. You can find these on amazon, under the names, Carrie Challoner, Carrie Lee Holmes and Carrie Holmes.

Please check out my Pinterest where I post content including these blogs: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/thetypicalLondongal/

When my son was born premature it really scared me and didn’t have any idea of what was going to happen next. I had no inkling that Henry was going to be born early and I shut down any thinking of the future, and I am a planner. The evening my waters broke I was going through my diary of how many weeks I had to go and that evening i went to hospital and then on the Monday of being in hospital from the Saturday, my son was born, and I never felt so frightened in my life and if my son was going to be okay.

I love taking pictures of London and good way of helping trauma that has helped me, is taking pictures and people I love.

Yes having a child is a miracle and I did want children but it was the shock, that made me shut down and for once was not worrying about what was going to happen tomorrow.

I cried a lot. Taking one day at a time I just concentrated on doing what I could to feed Henry my milk and readjusting, when I could visit my son in hospital I did and helped with feeding, having cuddles and changing him, and take it step by step.

For me that is the best way, and just taking it slow.

Life has a way of surprising us, so it is important to live each day at a time. Yes I am into goal setting, but I do set goals daily as they arise and try not to worry about tomorrow all of the time. My Keyworkers, when my mental health wasn’t good, both said to take each day at a time, and is about getting back to recovery state so enjoy the days with my son, and rebuilding relationships that were on the brink of falling apart and concentrate on my health and on my environment. Getting back to doing the things I love, like blog writing, going for walks and spending time with my son.

I hope these blogs help you and lets support one another.

dealing with trauma, finding help and support, Is it good to cry, life coaching blog, managing your feelings

A good cry can do wonders, yet many say it is a sign of weakness which I do not believe. If you have had trauma in your life it can take a long time to heal, and everyone bodies way of grieving is personal to them, and the words that get me is when someone says “Cheer up”, because it is more than having a bad day, it can be the hardest thing we’ve ever faced.

Photo by Alex Green on Pexels.com

Trauma can happen at any time and really knock us off our feet, and so often a person needs space and given comfort and compassion, and support to help recover.

Find someone who will truly listen to you, without making judgement but will just take in what you are telling them and help you make sense of it. Also writing, this has always helped me and when my Dad was badly hurt and was in hospital for a while, it was spending time playing out with my friends, and was looked after by my grandparents and neighbours in the housing estate I used to live. I will always be grateful for that, because I remember feeling some confusing and tried to lower the trauma I was facing at that time, by playing out, it helped take my mind away with what was happening.

Allow yourself to feel and if you need a bit of space then let people around you know and have that time to just feel and think, and when my son was born, which was early, at 31 weeks, I couldn’t see him for the first week as I had a viral infection, and it broke my heart, so took time to rest to recover, as it was a traumatic birth and so got as much rest as I could get, but even sitting some where like near a pond or the sea, if possible, it can help with being peaceful and calming, and can do wonders in dealing with your feelings.

If you feel you need medical help then talk to the doctor and don’t get fogged off, they are there to help you and can put you in touch with the Mental Health teams in your area, I was supported by Surrey Mental Health team and then the Merton Mental health team. They have many thing that they can help you with. like, putting you in contact with a Career Specialist, that they put me in contact with when I was ready to work outside again , and with my finances and free courses, in the fields I have been interested in, and there is a Recovery College which do free courses, and will continue to help you as you recover.

So, I hope these blogs are helping you and if you’d like to be updated when I post a blog on this site then press the Subscribe button on the top left of this site.

being a city girl, exploring the city, life coaching blog, living in the city, what I currently love

This blog was inspired by yesterday when I took a trip to North Greenwich and was unplanned but was brilliant, and sometimes the unplanned days are the better times and travelled by train and then by UberBoat. This you can pay by debit card, Oyster or tickets, and stops at different stops like Tower Bridge, and visited some shops, had a a drink and there are some brilliant things for kids, like a Trampolining place.

Photo by Dominika Greguu0161ovu00e1 on Pexels.com

Doing trips like this really can boost your happiness and wellbeing, and today I feel so pumped up, because doing something I currently love, and that is spending time in the visiting others parts of the city where I don’t always go, reminds me that there is more to London than the rush hour and traffic.

Checkout out my Instagram where I took some pictures, if you would like to see them: https://www.instagram.com/typicallondongal/

When you start exploring it can really help to open your eyes, because I have been to North Greenwich before, but there were parts I still hadn’t seen and going by boat made a massive difference and not gone an UberBoat before, I did go to Tower Bridge before by boat, but not sure if that was the same one, but it made a lovely change to catching the bus, and then on our way came back to London Waterloo had a bite to eat before we caught the train to return home.

As I write this I think of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, and how she lived it up and hated the country side and I love the countryside too and going out of London, but I like to visit I love too and living in London there are so many places you can go, to still be with nature. Like one of my current loves is walking with my son, and we often walk along the Wandle river in Wimbledon where you can be around different birds, ducks and people walking their dogs or a families cycling.

I loved travelling on the River Thames, and seeing the Tower Of London, the Bridges and the O2, and seeing the tall buildings in Canary Wharf.

Are you a fan of the city or a the country? I’d love to read your thoughts and if you have ideas of other cities to visit. You can leave a comment below.

So thanks for the likes so far on my blogs, and my Autumn Reset will be coming and will post more details of this in the next few weeks.

Many thanks for reading,

being thankful, happiness and wellbeing, life coaching, self love, Summer Project

When we feel low it often feels like we are falling down a hole and that there is nothing to enjoy and feel like hiding away. Start by going through your home that gives you comfort. For me right now I love sitting in front of my desk, listening to a video and writing this blog. I love sharing and helping you, and since I began this blog so much of my life has changed.

Photo by RDNE Stock project on Pexels.com

I am not going to force you to be thankful, because I have no knowledge of your life, but give tips, and so when I began to change my life, was when I had put on loads of weight and took up running. It was tough and I could have easily given up. I kept going, and went running along he seafront early in the morning so noone would see me, and with each run, my feelings towards my life, got better.

Now I enjoy walking, and I discovered my love from walking through running and so began to be thankful I had legs that can run or walk. You may be different, but finding a skill you didn’t know you had, can change that, and will help you to be thankful and there is a reason you are still here, and developing new relationships and visiting new places.

Moving away from home and following dreams to work in a holiday camp, I started to question my decision on deciding to do this, and was home sick for the first 3 weeks, but as I kept on getting used to living and working there, I began to enjoy being away and was grateful for this experience and met my husband and for while I was happy, this was before I began to feel low that I wrote about at the beginning of this blog.

There will always be bumps in the road in our life, but you can change it to be able to practice gratitude and has to begin right now, because if you are unhappy, with your life currently, it is time to make changes and enjoy life, to then be grateful.

When I became a parent I felt overwhelmed, and love my son, but felt like I had no idea of what to do, and kept feeling I was doing something wrong,, but watching him grow and becoming his own person, it has made me thankful that I am his mum and he is, my child and never thought I’d feel love like it. When he comes to have cuddles, it destroys my negative thoughts, as a parent and thankful for being able to grow this human being that I helped to create. I love at the moment playing football, with him and with his balloon. The other day we created a game with his balloon and so grateful for being able to play and create games to have fun and play.

I had really bad mental health illness, psychosis and it took me a lot to get back on my feet and recover, but with the help of my parents and mental health teams in Surrey and Merton, I am now recovered and can stand on my own two feet again, and thankful to my family and to my keyworkers, and the hospitals I stayed in, that helped me in this dark time I experienced.

So, as you build your life you will, hand on heart, start to see your life differently and who are thankful for you too.

Many thanks for reading

Life Coaching Programme “Summer Project 2023” Mind Management: How to recharge the mind and have peace

having peace, life coaching programme, mind management, recharging the mind, summer 2023

Our thoughts can build up with having so much to think about, like making sure I have breakfast, and my son has his and going through my emails and running errands and not having enough rest.

When you get overwhelmed, it means you need to take some time for you to recharge your mind, by not using your mobile and switching it off or put on silent on some days, and have peace from the everyday stress, to reboot.

Having family time, playing games or watching a film or a nice meal together, chatting about our day and the challenges we had to faced and have all phones turned off and being present with one another.

No spend days. I did no spend January this year and it really has helped me manage my money and did videos on my main youtube channel documenting it (https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal) and I do no spend days and has helped me to have peace when it comes to money, as I have struggled and cutting down on items that aren’t important, and so I write my expenses and check my bank accounts, it helps recharge and not worrying about it all of the time, as it can play on your mind, and so manage your money can do wonders. I have another Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@mywayofliving1602)

Reading. Take yourself away from the chaos and read. I did this, this evening and helps my mind to switch off and made myself comfortable to read and unwind. When I travel I often like to listen to an audio book and just keeps the mind from worries that travel can bring, but helps me to sleep too, when reading.

Music. I love listening to music, but no longer listen to it at night on my phone as it would affect my sleep and so now my mobile is faraway as possible, but when I am writing I like to listen to music, and I have a playlist dedicated to my book I am writing, currently, and when travelling too, if I don’t listen to an audiobook, and my tastes vary and created different playlists, which I love doing and play music to help my mood and with concentration.

Have a homely day. This is where I will spend time at home and put on some comfy clothes on, do some laundry, reading, do a walk around my local park and not travelling, and just chilling catching up on TV or Youtube. Anything that helps me to slow down and take in what is around me and feel my whole body breath and relax, and retune. Many of us are so used to running around, having to get to somewhere to get to work, that it can cause us to crash and so have a day where you can relax and do whatever you want that can help you switch off and slow down.

Spend time in a different place. This week we went to Shepperton by train, and went to the Loch there and it was so nice, watching the boats come and go. If you are not able to go on holiday far far away, visiting places for the day can be just as good. Life can get boring and feel like all we see is the same shops, the same four walls and I watch a channel called With Wonder, and she does hikes and runs, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1YPvcxMTtdKz5ptonC3HZA You may wonder how hiking and running can help recharge the mind, but being someone who has run herself it can be the best thing for the body and mind, and just being somewhere new, is so therapeutic and me and my husband visited the South coast this year and I have filmed a vlog, so coming onto my main channel soon (https://www.youtube.com/@typicallondongal) and it was a good weekend, and so good to be somewhere different and want to visit more places by train or by car, and so can really help to recharge.

Social interaction. Summer time what is left of it, can be a great opportunity in recharging the mind, because it can be so relaxing to sit in a park, having a chat with some bubbly, and enjoying the sun, and each bring some food to share. In my local Park there always adults with children getting together. It can help children to, to socialise, in a safe place, with adults feeling relaxed, and not having to rush around, and discussing life.

So, I hope you have had a good summer. and enjoyed these blogs and soon it will be my next yearly programme Autumn Reset, but still got a some blogs to share for this Life Coaching programme, “Summer Project 2023” and thank you to those who have liked these blogs and I am definitely going to enjoy the last two weeks have of the summer holidays.

Many thanks for reading,

Carrie X
