It has been a life of regret, struggles and low self belief. I had no respect for myself and would avoid looking in the mirror. Check out this video about Changing your Image:

life Coaching Video for my Summer Project programme about Changing Your image

I go through the issues I had and doing things to get over those feelings and feel good about myself.

It has taken many years, learning and understanding to accept myself and proud of the person I have become but do need to recover certain relationships as often it is the inside the person that matters and not calling someone a name and hitting out to the people that I love and who love me back and recovering from a Mental Health diagnosis, psychosis and having terrible anxiety.

I kept feeling the worst and forgiving myself, check out this blog and feeling good about myself: https://buildingselfconfidencetud.blogspot.com/2025/06/be-your-own-bestfriend.html

Things that were happening to me growing into a woman I found tough, being an early developer and felt out of control as my body changed and so my insecurities grew.

Life has a way of hitting you in the face and making you feel lost. I lost myself for a while, battling with my Mental Health, but from the knocks that life makes, where you fall of the rails to make you stronger and feel I do have courage and resilience to not to allow my inner critic get me down and spending time with the right people who do really do love me, has made me see that I Iook fine and the right shape for my height and body.

I blamed others for the way I felt and I had to take responsibility that noone is to blame I just needed to get a hold of myself and stop worrying what I don’t have but what I do have.

It has been a rollercoaster but I now know how to stop it and make an effort to help me to feel good about myself. I hated my teeth, my boobs and my stomach.

So I please enjoy the video and please subscribe if you’d like to be notified of when I post on this site and my educational Youtube Channel.

Putting Yourself First

Having a sort out, having time for yourself, putting yourself first, rushing around, self care and development

How many of us struggle with that, Putting yourself first?

We feel guilty when our kids want us to play but we want to catch up on resting as you come home from work or been doing chores, and want a nice hot bath or shower.

Photo by Vlada Karpovich on Pexels.com

You need that time, and today as it is Easter Sunday going to have a day indoors which is something I do often, and get ready for the week and adjusting to the time, as the clocks went forward last night and set a day or time for yourself in the day or week and develop or buy a “Do not disturb” sign on the door.

My son and my husband are going to get their hair cut and I am going to take a bath, do a bit of sorting out and continue to plan for the week, do a walk on the treadmill and read. I want to go through my finances and I have already worked on my book this morning, and continue filming a vlog, and having that time just helps me to get myself in shape to get more bits done and take my time.

Why do we rush around? Because we haven’t allowed ourself time to fully wake up, we have no plan for the day and accept that we are that kind of person that is always late, yet if you allow yourself to wake up by having that time for your first cup of tea in the Morning, planning for the day and say I can be on time and late just adds stress and panic. Do you want to keep getting stressed or have peace?

I am not saying I have never been late, because relying on public transport not easy now I stay in two different places, pre plan, by checking the timetables of the train and bus, and print off a map and if I can walk I will, and I will leave extra early.

Do what it takes for your life to be easier, as stress can have health implications, and so it is important to help your wellbeing aswell as others, and so now it is Easter and your not having to do the school run have your kids help with chores and their care, depending on the age, and have that time to do what ever helps you to have a stress free day.

Sorting stuff out. This may sound counterproductive but no. It can be a lower level task, with some music or audiobook sitting down and clear out a bag or a draw, just pottering around, which is one of my favourite things. I am going to sort out the closet in the guest bedroom. Doing a sort out can really make a huge difference to our feelings and emotions, because we can easily procrastinate and put it off, but just builds and builds. I feel weighed down by stuff and have changed my hoarding habit as if you think it is unnecessary spending, check this video out where I talk about this https://youtu.be/UfiHwsm71F8, to wanting minimal, and do my bit to reduce waste.

I wrote a blog yesterday on my blogsite, Organize4thebetter https://organize4thebetter.blogspot.com/2024/03/ten-ways-i-organize-my-life.html

I also like to go to a coffee shop to do some writing, on some days when my son is at school or go and get bits of shopping. I like creating ideas for dinner as this is my favourite meal of the day and like time when it is me cooking dinner, spend time listening to music and sing, or an audiobook. My step dad does this when he is cooking, and I am lucky because when I am in Wimbledon, where I live, I rarely have to do the cooking. I will help with washing up instead and tiding my bedroom there too and this week when I am there, going to be sorting this out more too, and yes I will film it. Effective Living, having down time, health and wellbeing, life coaching, self care and development

I write about this a lot on this blog but that it is so important to spend time giving yourself some self care that helps you develop and feel better about your life and we all need that time.

1>. Watching a movie after having a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine or a cup of tea.

Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Pexels.com

2>. Going for a coffee by a river or lake when the weather is good and a picnic with a bottle of Rose’ wine and meet up with a friend to join you

3>. Going for a long walk and write in your journal with a take away coffee or one you made at home and meeting up with a friend you have not seen for a while

4>. Do some exercise if you are not into walking but like to workout indoors. Check our Youtube as there are loads of different workouts on there and completely free or there is Davina McCall Own your goals and the body coach, Joe Wicks: https://www.thebodycoach.com/ and why not invite a friend to join you as sometimes working with a friend can make it more fun and more likely to stick to it.

5>. Read a book with a blanket over you, and put your mobile on silent and create a do not disturb sign.

It is about making the time for you and not what you always get to do, and we all need that down time.

So lets make the most of being free when we have the chance and now the schools break up for the School Summer Holidays, the more self care we can get, the better.

First of all welcome to those who are new to my blog Everyone can build a castle, and to new followers of my blog, and thank you for your likes, and really helps me in what topics you like me talking about.

If you didn’t know I also write books, and my newest one is about a Mother and a daughter who live together and is a love hate relationship, but there is one person who unites them, a lady called Gloria, who is a beautician and head of Elizabeth (the daughter) son’s school, PTFA and Elizabeth takes part in a virtue bake off, and because it is a pandemic they have to have meetings using Zoom and emailing and texting. This blog is about trips and falls, which in this book happens. Its available on Amazon and is called Mum&Me and I write other books too under the names Carrie Challoner, Carrie Lee Holmes and Carrie Holmes. See link to my new book:

Last Monday coming home I got of the bus and it being dark, crossed the road I tripped and cut my hand, knee and hurt my back and I was shaken up, and didn’t do much walking or did my run I started to do this year, because of it.

We are all gonna have trips and falls, it’s part of life, and it is how we react afterwards that can help us get over them.

I had to gather my confidence and brush myself off. And because of this fall I have been going to bed early to try and allow my body to recover and feel ready to continue on and so next week I will be exercising indoors, do some walking and go for a run. I do write a blog where I talk about exercise, that I also write on WordPress, check it out via this link: https://sportsandfitnesspassion.wordpress.com

Its not all about falling over though, it can be your car broke down and now having to travel using public transport, or the trains having delays and make us feel that it is not going to be good day. It can make use want to stay indoors and hide away.

This for me means I get into a what I call “Dead end mindset” so makes me more unhappy, but I have to get up, I have a son and he needs to be met. It can hard with kids because like my son, he wants my attention all of the time, and so I have to get up and get on.

This doesn’t mean you have to forget yourself, it means you have to take more care of yourself to help your kids grow and be there for others. If you are a carer, this can be demanding, and we forget ourselves, but when we fall over we realise we need to care for us, aswell as others. We need a cup of tea and coffee, a shower or a bath, and do some reading to switch off, and so listen to when you trip or fall to realise you are just as important aswell as the people you care about.

We grow from our trips and falls, not saying you can’t be careful and not trip again, but if I cross that bit of road to the pavement to take more care in making sure I don’t trip and fall there again.
