Hello! If you are new here then each year in September I do a Autumn Reset. I go through a number of items to complete, to kick start the change of, a new season, to help kick start the new Academic year and started doing this two years ago. I have done a printable to help you, please click here: Autumn Reset Worksheet 2025
I was going through what I do each day and I find filling up my mind, can get a bit tiresome and so I avoid these when doing a Reset:
- Try not to fill up my mind with too much, by not being on my laptop all day, put my phone somewhere out of easy reach and read once I have had a break from screens and watched a bit of light TV, along with being quiet.
- Not taking breaks. I find it hard to write all day and like to do it short spells. So will take a break by washing up dishes, cleaning and tidying. One of my items is to complete the first draft of another book. So far It has gone well.
- Not doing a recap of what I have done in the day. Not necessarily writing it down, but in my mind and helps to see what I have done and realize I have done more than, what I have realised.
It is good to not wear yourself down. It is good to have a few things done, its not about how many things you can do. It is about the result post Autumn Reset.
Go through how it has made you feel, e.g. Completing an Essay, completing a room makeover, cleaned your entire house or like me, completed a draft of a book you are writing.
A recap is good to address your feelings whether good or bad, measuring your progress. I talk about doing a Mind Map, because it is motivating and it directs you.
Then going through, example: You’ve written a paragraph of the Essay. How many words does it have to be? When is the deadline? To get my book finished I know if I use my Mornings and evenings, where I know I have a good amount of time to write, even if it is for 10 minutes, I will complete the revised first draft to then start editing. My aim is to write,’ 40,000 words and I am doing some training to help me.
