I was addicted to scrolling when I would be in a comfortable social situation would scroll and not paying attention. So in this weeks Cheat Sheet is tips on Cutting down on scrolling.
It something that I think we all do and I no longer scroll at night and in fact been staying up later to read watch a bit of Youtube or TV series on the TV. I am building my Pinterest at the moment but not doing this all day long and one of my favourite platforms but I not checking Instagram, Facebook or X all the time or Tik Tok continuously as I would at one time pick my phone up every five seconds and was doing subconsciously.
These cheat sheets are free to download and print.
I have found that we are always consuming, we scroll on Pinterest and look at Instagram and shop. With Social media it can take over our day and when we watch a haul we instantly want to go out shopping and buy items from TikTok but we then see we didn’t need those items. We can compare ourselves and our lives and I am not being a hypocrite as I do use it, but I am careful what I watch and what I put out there into the world.
I am now vigilant it what I am feeding my brain with, because we can be easy be influenced and I am guilty of that.
Also are we listening to gossip? I remember working in a call centre and there would be people talking unkindly about other staff, celebrities, reading magazines and it could really make us feel uncomfortable and I was told I was no good at my job so decided to just not listen to it. As long as I believed in myself that was all that mattered.
I was there to work and didn’t always socialise, because I didn’t want to be surrounded by people who were going to talk about you the next day.
“what you put out there in the world is what you will receive”.
It is also bad news. I do watch the news but not all the time as I find it depressing and don’t watch anything too gory, but like a drama and I don’t watch soaps because I can be quite disturbed by them and rather watch a concert, Days in a life Video, writing tips and love being part of the writing community by watching those who have self published, getting tips and ideas, life coaching or a good podcast.
Also what we read. I am reading a book about the punk rock era and of a guy trying to make it and forming a band based up North, Liverpool and the music scene around that time. I find certain songs really can affect my feelings. Not because they are bad but because the song reminds me of a tragic time, like Never Walk Alone, I remember the Hillsborough Disaster and I just find it so heart wrenching because of the words and so I play certain songs that helps with my feelings unless it is for a book I am writing.
The diet culture. I have had an eating disorder, had really bad anxiety and body dysmorphia as I hated myself a lot as a child and teenager, because of the way I looked and I would be really upset. I avoided mirrors and changing rooms. Now though I love my body, my hair and skin. I like to exercise, learning what my body can do and am skilled. I can dance, write and a good imagination and creative.
So spend some time writing down the things you are feeding your brain and workout, what is effecting you and getting you down and what are the good things you are consuming?
It can take time but you mindset can change and work for you and not against you.
